Honey Badger Years (HBY): The Rare, Long-Cycle Member of the Honey Badger Family

What Is a Honey Badger Year (HBY)?

Honey Badger Years (HBY) is an Elite signal, available in Discord, and shares similar underlying market forces as Honey Badger Day (HBD) — but operates on a completely different timescale. Where HBD is a daily signal, HBY is unrelated to HBD in cadence or frequency: it triggers "about once every two years."

HBY is a longer-term $SPY swing-trading indicator. There are multiple ways to trade it, but the basic idea is simple: once it activates, buy longer-dated SPY calls (or commons) and chill.

That extreme rarity is exactly why HBY ranks low on BigShort's indicator importance list despite being a real, named signal — it simply doesn't come around often enough to be a day-to-day tool the way HBD is.

How HBY Relates to HBD

Why It's Ranked Low

HBY is real, but its roughly once-every-two-years frequency means it has little bearing on any given trading day. That's reflected directly in BigShort's indicator importance list, where it's listed as "rare, ranked low accordingly" — a real signal, just not one to expect to see, or plan a strategy around, in the ordinary course of trading.
